Cadel Evans in the Jura

Cadel Evans – the winner of the Tour de France 2011 – and Steve Morabito, two racers of the BMC team, came to the Jura on Wednesday 2 May for a location visit. They tested a part of the Jurassic route of the „Grande Boucle“. Here's the video.

This is a project of considerable dimensions in all different aspects: infrastructures, personnel, or budget-wise. The public authorities are unable to finance this event by their own means, and this is why they are appealing to private partners to join in.

Finish line of the 8th stage

Porrentruy is wearing the colors of the Tour de France. The signposts are mounted, and the finish line of the 8th stage was marked this morning in the brilliant sunshine of Porrentruy. As of today, amateur bikers can try out the Swiss section of the Tour de France for themselves and cross the finish line at the end.

The Jura comes closer to Paris

As of 11 December 2011, the TGV Rhin-Rhône, east branch, will stop at the new train station of Belfort-Montbéliard, and this makes the Jura the Swiss region closest to Paris. Numerous advertisement campaigns are launched in order to entice the French to get to know this region and even settle there. Porrentruy will only be 2 hours 45 minutes away from the French capital.

This is it! It is official now: Porrentruy will host the 8th stage of the Tour de France 2012. A delegation from the Jura has already gone to Paris to prepare the official presentation of the 2012 route.

Christophe Moreau welcomes the Tour at his home

The former professional bike racer Christophe Moreau was born in the Belfort region and lives in Porrentruy. He is happy to welcome the Tour de France to his home town. He ended his racing career in 2010 and has been a consultant for Eurosport ever since. The success of the candidature of Porrentruy to receive this stage of the Tour 2012 is also due to his endeavors. You can find him on Facebook!
